Author bio

SIG SYNNESTVEDT (1924-77)  studied American History at Michigan State University before gaining a Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. He taught history for many years at the Academy of the New Church, Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, where he grew up. He was prominently involved in the Civil Rights Movement and anti-racism campaigning in the ’60s and ’70s. He is the author of The White Response to Black Emancipation (1972).
