Join the Alchemy collective for an evening of site-specific live music and spoken poetry inspired by the vision and writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.

‘Emanuel Swedenborg’s story has ignited personal reflections at Alchemy; encounters with angels, mistaken skulls(!), dreams, resistances, illness and loss, near death experiences, different heritages and their relationship[s] and language around the other or spirit world, memory, social anxiety, a fascination with philosophy, the micro and macro, inner and outer, and the importance of recognising the poetry in everything.’

About Alchemy

Alchemy is a creative music and youth work mentoring programme based at Goldsmiths University, delivered by a diverse team of music and spoken word artists, students and alumni, and youth workers, for 13–21-year-olds in Lewisham and beyond. The intention is to build skills and confidence in musical creativities, improve mental health, and support future employment and education pathways by building a network of friendship and collaboration across the university, local community and organizations, and new partnerships such as this event with the Swedenborg Society. Alchemy employs anti-oppressive and listening-centred methodologies, operating with a strong ethos of equity, co-design and student-led learning.
