Hosted over a period of two days, the first Swedenborg Short Film Festival is to take place in the Society’s grade II listed neo classical Hall, and aims to establish itself as an annual landmark event on the UK film calendar.

Featuring films of 15 mins or less, the heart of the Festival is to showcase the latest new and established talent. This year films will be shown from a variety of genres on the themes of heaven and/or hell and will be awarding prizes in the categories of: 

  • Best Film,
  • Best First Film,
  • Best Animation,
  • Best Sound,
  • Best Editing
  • Best Comedy

A 'Participation Diploma' will be given to every film selected to participate. Attendance to the festival screening is open to all but seating is limited so reservations are recommended.

Filmmakers seeking to submit should read the list regulations below and return the application form which can be down-loaded at the bottom of this page.

REGULATIONS

1. OBJECTIVES

The first Swedenborg Short Film Festival will take place on October 29th–30th, 2010. The Swedenborg Short Film Festival is an independent festival with an International and National Competition. The Competitions are open and free for all who want to submit a film for the preview.

2. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Admitted are films of all genres not exceeding a length of 15 minutes. Films which have been shown or awarded at other international film festivals are allowed to compete.

3. DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION

The submission deadline is September 30th, 2010. The following material has to be sent together with each submitted film:


  1. a Mini-dv and

  2. a FULLY filled entry form (down-load below) 

4. SELECTION

The Festival will select the films for the International Competition from all entered contributions during October 2010. Any filmmaker, producer, organisation or other party can submit films directly to the festival office. Entrants will be notified of the selection results by the 15th October 2010.

5. SHIPPING PROCEDURE

Entry forms and preview copies and other required material must be received by September 30th, 2010 at the following address: Swedenborg Short Film Festival, Swedenborg House, 20-21 Bloomsbury way, London, WC1A 2TH.

6. FESTIVAL SCREENINGS

For festival screenings the Festival accepts Mini-dv.

7. JURIES AND PRICES

The organizers will nominate a Jury of five members. Thejury will award the following prizes: 1) Best Film, 2) Best First Film, 3)Best Animation, 4) Best Sound, 5) Best Editing, and 6) Best Comedy. A 'Participation Diploma' will be given to every film selected to participate on the International Competition.
