The Swedenborg Collection

The Swedenborg Collection is the Society's main library-holding, consisting primarily of printed editions of Swedenborg's works, biographies of Swedenborg and published facsimiles of original manuscripts. Where possible, The Society acquires every new edition of Swedenborg's works. The collection so far consists of approximately 5000 books in 33 languages. We also hold many 1st editions in the original Latin.

The Swedenborg Collection is catalogued in a chrono-numerical system. Each separate item is given a roman number and is listed in chronological order.

The prefix 'Sw' applies to all editions;'SwB' applies to the biographies;'SwC' applies to works issued in composite volumes.

The editions of each treatise are laid out in the following sequence:

  1. Original languages;
  2. English translations;
  3. Foreign languages, and
  4. Extracts.
