The Letters of Dr James John Garth Wilkinson (1812-1899)

Dr Devin Zuber, Assistant Professor for American Studies at the University of Osnabrűck, Germany will talk about his project to publish a selection of letters by Dr James John Garth Wilkinson (1812-1899), most of which are in the Society’s archives.  Wilkinson was a homoeopathic physician, a translator of Swedenborg and a prolific writer on medical, social and theological topics.  His friends included many eminent literary men of his time, especially Henry James senior, father of William James the psychologist and philosopher and Henry James the novelist.
