Internships & Volunteering

  • The Society is a not-for-profit organization which welcomes volunteers to help in all areas of its activities.
  • We also operate an internship programme, normally lasting three months. This is an opportunity to gain experience in publishing, library work, events, publicity or bookselling. Internships are unpaid, but expenses are covered. As a small, tight-knit organization, there is much scope for vital work experience.

If you are interested in volunteering or interning, please do not hesitate to contact us via nora@swedenborg.org.uk or (020) 7405 7986.

Volunteers

Diane Lewin: Volunteer (December 2010 - present)

Diane volunteers in the Society's bookshop two afternoons a week. A former primary school teacher, Diane is now an essential part of the Swedenborg Society team, helping with book orders, enquiries, and the administration of events.

Interns

Holly Catling: Publishing Intern (January - March 2012)

Holly graduated from Cambridge University in 2008 with a degree in English Literature; she went on to complete an MSc in International Politics at SOAS, University of London. Holly gained vital work experience in the Society's publishing office, in particular proof-reading and producing e-books. She also worked in the publicity department, helping to create the Society's first-ever Wordpress blog. During her internship at the Society, Holly found full-time employment and now works as Publishing Assistant at an international academic publishing house in Oxford, UK.
