'Slovenia has for centuries occupied one of the most critical and telling fault lines in European culture. So with roots in Celtic culture, it's no surprise that the country is home to a rich poetic tradition - albeit one under-appreciated by Anglo-phone audiences.
Pighog has been working with poets in Slovenia since 2006 and we're delighted to announce the publication of two new volumes of contemporary Slovenian poetry in English: Elsewhere - new and selected poems by celebrated contemporary Slovenian poet Iztok Osojnik (translated by Pighog poet Maria Jastrzebska with Ana Jelnikar), and Here - an anthology of exciting new poets.
This autumn, with the support of the Slovenian Embassy, the poets are flying in to take their work on a whistlestop tour of South East England and Ireland.' (PIGHOG PRESS website) Find more info on the Slovenian poetry series here.
