A S Byatt won the Booker Prize and the Irish Times InternaA S Byatttional Fiction Prize in 1990 for her novel Possession. Part romance, part literary thriller, the novel is steeped in nineteenth century literary culture and happens to contain several references to Swedenborg. Her latest publication, The Children's Book, another work of historical fiction exploring artistic creation, was short-listed for this year's Man Booker Prize.
